Food Entertainment history and product overview
Reel
Food Entertainment (RFE) is a San Francisco-based DVD publishing
and distribution company. Our WebDVD CookDisc products provide
superior benefits to home-cooks. We supply our strategic partners
(i.e. cookbook and magazine publishers, cable networks, Public Television
and a wide array of food marketers), with instructional cooking
DVD products and television programming.
Our
CookDisc products are an evolutionary step as an electronic
aid in the food preparation arena. They serve audiences via
step-by-step instructional video, interactive cooking databases,
and tool-kits. We believe the users experience
with our new CookDisc technology will have a significant impact
on the food preparation publishing market.
With
the increasing number of broadband Internet connections at home,
the rapid decline in people watching Network Television (ABC, NBC,
PBS), coupled with their use of Personal Video Recorders such as
TiVO, to skip through commercials, consumers are now obtaining their
"content" from nearly all the available channels including
DVDs and Video-on-Demand services.
The
DVD has become today's media currency, eclipsing the VHS format
due to its superior video quality, ability to link online, and use
of interactive applications. However, our blueprint for creating
sustainable, profitable, DVD products, replicates a key formula
derived from the VHS era; a well-known personality + an ongoing
series + a major marketing/distribution partner. The best example
of this is Jane Fondas Workout Series, which sold millions
of copies in the 1980s and 90s. RFEs CookDisc
titles feature a best-selling chef/author with an installed base
of readers, and are usually part of an ongoing series enabling us
to re-launch the product with each newly released book. We then
work in tandem with their book publisher, piggybacking on their
marketing efforts for a new launch, utilizing their sales force,
and multiple distribution channels.
During
2003, the combined sales and rentals of VHS videotapes, and DVD
discs, yielded $22.0 Billion dollars (US) in the US, alone which
surpassed the cinematic release of movies which was 9.1 Billion
dollars (US). Additionally, most of the new kitchens are now being
designed and fitted with flat screen panels, Internet connectivity
and DVD/Video players. (1) INSTAT DVD report-2004
The
Company also develops customized, private-labeled DVDs for
food marketers. As TV broadcast advertising continues to decline,
we believe our products and services will be in demand by major
food brands searching for more narrowcasting opportunities. Reel
Food Entertainment is creating unique intellectual properties and
is a first-mover in the development of new WebDVD proprietary products
and services. Our principals have extensive experience in marketing
and business management, and the creative disciplines necessary
to create, launch and market these successful products and programs.
