Oil on Ice

Oil on Ice, a Dale Djerassi/Bo Boudart Production in association with Lobitos Creek Ranch, has been selected as one of the nominees for the 2004 IDA Pare Lorentz Award. The Eastman Kodak company and the Sundance Channel are the major sponsors of the award. The IDA awards will be held on December 11th at the Eastman Kodak building in Los Angeles.

Over two years in the making, this film is both timely and provocative. For all of us at the Ranch it has been an inspiring experience to get to know the Gwich'in Indians of Northern Alaska. They have a subsistence lifestyle that dates back thousands of years; that lifestyle is threatened by development.

This film really hits home. Through it we've come to understand that our dependence on oil is a central element driving many of our world problems. The film presents information about alternative energy and the impact of global warming.

The world premier of Oil on Ice was at Mountainfilm in Telluride, Colorado, on Memorial Day Weekend. The Sierra Club will be providing outreach for Oil on Ice. This fall, an activist DVD will be available to help individuals interested in promoting these issues to screen the film at home to their family, friends and neighbors.
